Greetings from Program Chair Keren Bergman
Welcome to 2022!
Times have been undeniably tough and challenging for the conference industry, including the ISC conference series. Fortunately, the ISC organizers were able to maintain strong continuity for the series in 2020 and 2021 with online events, thus providing our HPC community with an international platform for presenting the latest important advances. The pandemic did not impede progress in science and engineering and over the past two years ISC continued to highlight the latest research and innovations across HPC.
2022 is a ground-breaking year, in which ISC returns as a hybrid conference, primarily in-person, but also offering online content. We are hopeful that once again we will be able to physically engage with our colleagues and like-minded peers, enabling all of us to derive value from each other’s work. The 2022 event will also be held in a new location, providing the setting for an exciting technical program and a live exhibition that awaits over 3,000 attendees.
I’m looking forward to traveling to Hamburg and engaging in face-to-face meetings with colleagues I haven’t met for a long time. Of course, ISC is committed to taking all necessary precautions to provide participants with a safe and secure conference experience. We follow regulations set by the local government, guidelines from public health agencies and best practices. I’m told Hamburg is beautiful and the adjacent Planten und Blomen garden is also on my list of things to do.
Now let’s get back to some serious business. This year we will be offering six tracks in the Invited Program to address System Architecture, Applications & Algorithms, Parallel Programming & Performance Modeling, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, and HPC and Machine Learning in Industry. All these topics will be addressed in 32 sessions running from Monday, May 30 to Wednesday, June 1.
ISC is undeniably a high performance computing conference, and therefore most of the weight of the program will rest on traditional topics involving HPC. However, a significant component of the invited sessions will also delve into machine learning, and the emerging use of quantum computing. Both areas are becoming increasingly important in the realm of high performance computing.
I feel extremely honored to be involved in this year’s event as the Program Chair and to work with incredibly talented colleagues on shaping the Invited Program.
I invite you to bookmark the conference website – isc.hpc.com and revisit it sometime in March for more detailed information about the program!
Best regards,
Keren Bergman
